Child Dentistry
A lifetime of Dental Health
At Playfair Dental Centre, we believe that a lifetime of good dental health begins with a foundation of healthy dental habits starting as soon as primary teeth erupt. Your child’s first visit to the dentist can be around age 3 – we find the sooner a child visits a dentist, the more likely they are to relax and become accustomed to regular visits. Our goal is to have your child visit us before there is a problem with his or her teeth. By the age of 2 or 3, when all the baby teeth have come in, your child should see the dentist to begin regular checkups.
We understand that visiting the dentist, especially for the first time; can be a source of anxiety for children. So we do everything possible to ensure our atmosphere is fun, comfortable and stress-free for our young patients. This way they’ll look forward to returning time and again. Right from the time children enter our waiting room, they’ll start to relax – our welcoming and playful wall mural is fun to look at, our fireplace lends an inviting atmosphere of warmth and relaxation, and they’ll be well entertained with our toys and Playstation centre.
Using a variety of interesting techniques and materials, we’ll teach your child how to brush and floss their teeth properly, and how to take care of their gums. We’ll talk about how to prevent tooth decay and how they can maintain a healthy smile for years to come. To top it all off, they’ll enjoy choosing a prize from the much-beloved “Treasure Chest” at the end of their appointment.
